Fourth of July.

The kid's bedtime is 8pm.  You'll need that knowledge.

On our way out into the desert to watch our city's fireworks from afar, a little whisper came from my little Ruby in the backseat, "we're partying.  It's 8:07."  Ha!  Nothing quite like staying up past 8:07pm!!!  =)

Then, when we got home, we discovered the chicken-dog Hickory was nowhere to be found.  He doesn't like loud noises and likes to escape the yard when he hears them.  Normally he wants in the van, but you know...we had the van.  =O  Anyhow, he escaped the yard and didn't come home.  All night I worried and prayed and wondered if he broke his neck while escaping the enclosure.  Really.  Next morning, I took Ruby and Isaac for a  bike ride out in the desert to see if we could find Mr. Wayward-chicken-dog.  Ruby called.  And called.  And...what do you know?  Hickory barked in reply.  She called, he barked.  Repeated multiple times.  So, we called David and told him where the sound was coming from.  And he found Hickory.  Laying on some steps at the school.  Like, "are they gonna come find me?"  I was so glad he wasn't in the road!!!  That dog....
