Little Notes...

On Sabbath night, I made some carob-tofu-banana-coconut milk-salt-vanilla smoothies that the kids loved.  Well, it was a tad rich for Ruby, I think.  David wasn't impressed.  More for us!  ;)  (And Uncle Durrick...)  Anyhow, as I was drinking my smoothie, Jadelyn looked at me with awe in her eyes and asked, "how do you drink that without getting it on your face?"  For you see, I should've taken a picture of her face - 3/4 ring of carob smoothie around her mouth and some on her nose for good measure.  ;)  Then, she told me that she thought she had some smoothie on her hand, and licked it, but found out that it was dirt.  And she thought "yuck!" because "I don't like to eat dirt anymore."  For in the olden days, that is something she really enjoyed, I guess.  Glad her eating habits are improving from the chicken food and dog food and cat food days...;P

Isaac helped me today with MORE sanding.  He sanded on the bookshelf that David built yesterday for probably a good hour.  Quietly sanding as I cleaned and painted.  It was lovely.  Once, when he stopped sanding, it got REALLY quiet.  So quiet, that he whispered to me about how quiet it was when he wasn't using his tool.  Thanks for the work and the quiet companionship, I-see!!!  =)

At lunch today, somehow we got to talking about how it's not a good idea to marry a liar.  I was telling the kids that's one reason why you really get to know someone before you get married.  They didn't really get it.  I asked Isaac how he knew I'm telling the truth when I say something, "because when you say something's going to happen, it does", he said.  Ruby wasn't all the way convinced, I guess.  So she thought maybe she should set up an elaborate test for honesty in someone she dates.  She will listen at the bathroom door after they go potty to see if they wash their hands.  Then she will ask them if they wash their hands.  If they said they did but the water didn't turn on, then LIAR!!!  I asked what happened if they turned the water on but didn't wash their hands.  She told me that she thinks she used to do that in Kentucky 'cause she was just being "lazy".  ;P  So, she upped her plan.  She will have a hidden camera in the ceiling to see if they wash their hands.  Isaac then piped in to say that he would ask his person to wait to go to the bathroom for about a minute longer than it would take him to go outside and climb up in the attic (the minute longer being so that he could get settled into the attic and have it nice and quiet before they enter the bathroom.  Wouldn't want them to know what's up, you know.).  Then he will spy on 'em or listen in or something to see if they wash their hands.  Later, he said he will have a remote controlled camera in the bathroom.  And Ruby says that if they don't wash their hands and say they do, that's it.  "What if you love them?" Jadelyn asked.  You have to stop loving them, Ruby said.  Well, maybe you keep loving them, but don't get married.  So, there are some lessons to learn from this:
         1.  Tell the truth.
         2.  If you want to marry my kids, WASH YOUR HANDS ALREADY AND SAVE US THE
              ANGST!
         3.  Look out for hidden cameras around my house, your privacy COULD be invaded.  =O

Oh, and then Ruby thought she should maybe sneak over to her beloved's house before dark sometime and hide cameras in the kitchen, living room, and maybe bathroom and bedroom to see how her chosen one treats his parents.  'Cause if he's mean, she don't want to marry 'em.  And Jadelyn?  She's still planning on not getting married 'cause she wants to live with me, and she's pretty sure her man won't want to.  ;)

Adios!

Funny...and Embarrassing...Kids

So, Isaac got Impetigo the other week.  This kid is sure having the health issues lately.  First the flu so bad that he ends up at the ER at the beginning of last month, then Impetigo this month, and then yesterday we had another day of headache leading to throwing up.  Thankfully he was able to keep his pink medicine down...what is that called?  Oh yeah!!!  Antibiotics!!!  I KNEW it would come to me.  Anyhow, soon after he got diagnosed with Impetigo, Jadelyn was talking about if something bad happened to Isaac and he died or something (I don't remember the specifics).  Then, she let me know how bad that would be 'cause we'd have to throw away all his medicine.  Good reason to care if Isaac kicks the can, 'eh?  ;P

Then, on Sabbath, we went hiking at the Petrified Forest.  During some of the hikes, Jadelyn was singing, "Nate, in all things we are more than conquerors!!!"  I KNEW those weren't the right words, but didn't know what the right ones were because I don't know all their worship songs from their morning worship books.  =O  (For those who are wondering, Ruby came home, studied it out, and learned that it was saying "NAY, in all things we are more than conquerors!!!")  Anyhow, Jadelyn's walking/running/whatever along singing "Nate, in all things we are more than conquerors!!!!" over and over and over and over and over and well, you get the idea.  Over and over and over until we get within earshot of complete strangers.  And then her words change.  "Nate, in all things we are more than MURDERERS!"  Yes.  Twice.  Clearly.  Right by the strangers.  Lovely.  I squeezed her hand and told her "no", and she stopped.  But really?  Murderers?  JADELYN GRACE!!!!  If Mommy lives until you're the ripe age of 6, it will be incredible.  'Cause mothers sometimes die of embarrassment, right?  ;P

Today, Isaac wanted to help me sand the shelves for the schoolroom.  So he did.  Like a happy lark.  And quite thoroughly, too.  I was mucho impressed!  He's really wanting to work with Pucka in Pucka's workshop this summer...prepared for that, Dad?  ;)  Then, later, he was doing dishes, so I worked on sanding.  He came to help me when he was done with dishes, and we were talking about how we use the nice oak plywood for shelves that will be visible all the time, and how we use the other plywood for in the closet where nobody will really see 'em.  Well, he wanted to know why we don't use more "okra" wood.  =)  That WOULD be more cost effective, but I don't know how well it would hold up!

And this is me, who always means to blog about things, but forgets what she was going to blog about, signing off.  And a goodnight to all!
